Originaly, social networking as i knew it when i was about 14, out popped Msn messenger, bebo and myspace. Nothing much is spoken about myspace or bebo anymore, within a couple of years it has manifested into twitter and facebook, what next. Have you noticed a change in human behaviour since social networking came along. e.g. youngsters are increasingly becoming overly concerned about there appearence, not they they wern’t before social networking but i have noticed an increase in desire for perfection with profile photo’s i speak from experience having grown up with social networking. Don’t get me wrong i use facebook myself.
Most people over the age of 40 in 2005 wouldn’t know what social networking is it was let alone know how to use it, it was a new thing. now it’s wierd if u dont have facebook, it’s the most talked about thing on tv, radio, or any other kind of media, twiitter this facebook that!

I think everything can be good or bad depending on how you use it. Consider weapons. When used in self-defense, they are good; when used in offense, bad. If you use facebook to keep in touch with people, I don’t see why it’s harmful. Just don’t spend too much time on it. However, the circle of friends I have turned it into a popularity contest where you have to just add random people you barely know for the purpose of having the most friends. It pushes me further away from facebook. I can’t wait until people grow up and leave the childishness behind. Once upon a time, facebook was for people 25+ reconnecting with high school friends, now middle schoolers are on it? Um, no.
