do i have to put social security number on new york lottery ticket payout?

I’m from out of state so I am sending it through the mail. I would rather not include my social security number and its a payout of less than $600. I’m guessing the social security number is needed for payouts of over $600 for tax reasons but probably does not have to be included on a $25 payout?

probably does not matter but the game is called millionaire madness.

thanks

If I were you I would contact them just to be sure. I wouldn’t think you would need to include it, but it would be very easy to call them.

There is a telephone number here, and also an on-line question form you can submit.

it’s for IRS tax purposes. They want to keep a tally on how much you’re ‘earning’ in lottery profits. Best to ask the NY lotto.
